He's been feeling his way up other states in the midwest
Missouri - with links
and reviews to things I've seen
One of the main tourists traps is Hannibal Mo. This
is where the most famous Mark Twain grew up and based his novel" Tom Sawyer
and Huck Finn"Once in town you find the old section of town with the houses
of the characters right out of the book. Although the characters in the
book were fictitious the people were based on real people from the life
of Mark Twain. There is even a Cave in Hannibal that was supposed to be
the cave where Tom Sawyer and Becky Thacher got lost.
The cave tour is pretty neat. In fact our family
were the only people on the cave trip when we went. The Town tour leaves
early. If remember corrrectly you can visit the old homes but the
last tour leaves at 3Pm. The tour takes you through some of the main characters
homes and Mark Twains home plus the museum. A neat old town. There
are other things to do in town like a riverboat/dinner show. Definetely
worth the trip.
nice long walk up to the top of this hill but beautiful
country. You can just immagine the splender this place once held.Use the
above link to read the story behind it.
Really nice caves with cool things to see, a nice
relaxing temperature in the summer. It s a long journey into the
depths of the earth but it's no surprise this is one of the worlds most
famous caves. The picture above shows a recreation of Jessie James robbing
a stagecoach. He had reportedly hidden out here. Artifacts found here are
on display in the Caverns Museum. They have a person working there who
will give you directions to famous nearby sites to see. I asked this older
lady how to get the the grave of Daniel Boone and was directed to visit
a large Military Cemetary( I think it was in Jackson). I asked her if she
knew who I was talking about and she insisted it was here! Well of course
he wasn't there! I think the lady had a son buried there and was being
weird about it because I noticed a Daniel Boone that had died a few years
back buried there. Anyhow that lady needs some help it took me quite a
ways off my path.
I finally found our Boy on a lonesome hill in Defiance
Mo. A very small gavesite in the middle of no where. But it was worth visting
to me. This man was the true Pioneer. Paving the way for the world to move
west.
Gorgeous wide open country- The hills and
open country are a site to behold.
The Arch - really cool to see. This is a monument
to the nations westword expansion. Nice museum to see also.
Floating MacDonalds- The one and only. Just
outside the arch. Stop in and have a Big Mac ! A very unique MacDonalds.
