Proposed Landfill
There is now a proposal for a landfill to be
placed at the northeast corner of 550 S and 250 W. Just three
quarters of a mile from the middle school in Boone Grove. It would
encompass 353 acres of land and would place a heavy impact on Boone Grove
itself. Various states would use this landfill and much increase of truck
traffic. As I have heard in the past, water and air quality would suffer
greatly. There is a waterway that runs through the property that ends up
at the Kankakee river. Also, it would destroy the many indian mounds that
have looked at and thought about how life was in the early days. I will
try and keep this page updated as info comes in.
